Meet DDR Australia’s general manager

Having started with the company earlier this year, DDR’s general manager Shane Katauskas has hit the ground running.

Shane Katauskas started his career as an electrician, completing a four-year apprenticeship with various Perth-based contractors in the commercial, industrial and mining sectors. He moved up the ranks steadily, enjoying stints as a foreman, supervisor, superintendent, project
engineer and senior project manager.

Over the course of more than 25 years, Shane has gained considerable experience on both greenfield and brownfield projects in the aforementioned industries, as well as the oil and gas sector. This has provided him with diverse project know-how, backed by a sound understanding of construction and project management principles, well-honed team leadership skills and the much-valued ability to work in a collaborative manner. Along the way, Shane has also completed a Master’s of Project Management.

Upon commencing with DDR at the beginning of the year, Shane got to work identifying areas that would most benefit from his expertise. Among his strengths is the ability to build long-lasting, positive and productive relationships, which he believes are key to a successful business. By drawing on his skills and experience in this area, Shane is working to seek out new connections on behalf of DDR and nurture the relationships that already exist.

Shane prescribes to a collaborative way of working and believes that this, as well as clear communication with both staff members and stakeholders, are also crucial, not only for relationship-building but also for successful project outcomes. Other focal points for Shane in this role as general manager include effective forecasting, budget control and, of course, leading staff across the country.
