DDR Australia – a proud supporter of the
Veterans’ Employment Program

The Prime Minister’s National Veterans’ Employment Program is designed to benefit both veterans and employers.

DDR supporting veterans’ employment DDR recently became an official ‘Supporter of Veterans’ Employment’ as part of the Prime Minister’s National Veterans’ Employment Program – an initiative dedicated to promoting the benefits of hiring Australia’s highly skilled ex-service men and women.

Why hire veterans?

Experience in different fields
Australia’s military is among the most highly skilled in the world, and Australian Defence Force (ADF) members receive world-class training. There are more than 200 different roles across the ADF, and when veterans leave, they take with them bring specialist qualifications, technical expertise and well-honed skills in sought-after fields, such as healthcare, trades, engineering, project management, logistics, information management, hospitality and security.

A unique combination of skills
Such skills might include expert leadership, or an aptitude for decision-making, problem-solving, critical thinking, risk management and communication. They also have the proven ability to work in high-pressure environments and the personal qualities of integrity, loyalty, self-discipline and perseverance.

These attributes are easily transferable to and highly desirable within the civilian workforce, and DDR recognises the value veterans bring.

Committed to veterans’ employment
In signing the Veterans’ Employment Commitment, DDR agrees to:

  • Make it clear that it is open to recruiting veterans
  • Consider veteran applicants favourably
  • Provide unsuccessful veteran applicants with timely constructive feedback
