Anderson Point Shutdown Works

Home | Mining | Anderson Point Shutdown Works

Project Description

We recently completed rail upgrade works and stacker remediation at FMG’s Port Hedland operations during a scheduled shutdown.

The rail works consisted of the removal of existing grout, angle correction of plates and pandol, as well as the removal and replacement of old concrete rail bearers and concrete. The stacker was blasted and re-coated.

Project challenges:

  • Time restraints of the shutdown period.
  • Confined work area.
  • Isolation delays.
  • Multiple contractors within one work area.
  • Dust contamination restricting when coatings could be applied.

Project HIGHLIGHTS

  • DDR worked collaboratively with both the client and other contractors on site to complete the work.
  • The project was completed incident-free and exceeded the client’s expectations of the percentage of work able to be completed within the shutdown timeframe.
