Project Description

Fortescue recently engaged DDR to conduct earthworks and construct thee concrete pads for a new container laydown area at its Christmas Creek mine, located approximately 110km north of Newman, WA.The project scope comprised of all civil earthworks and construction of three concrete pads and footings including steel plates, including:

  • Excavation and leveling of work area
  • Installation of plastic membrane across designated pad area
  • Installation of formwork and both layers of reinforcing mesh
  • Pouring of footings and concrete
  • Application of brush finish to the final slabs
  • Installation of expansion joints and application of a polyurethane sealant

Project HIGHLIGHTS

  • Our team worked closely with the client and their concrete supplier to ensure scheduled works were delivered between shutdowns.
  • We were able to successfully navigated around high winds, dust and debris to ensure a high-quality finish for the client.
